Hundreds of school children are benefiting from supplies donated to Williamsburg, James City County, and York public schools by the 2011 Williamsburg School Supplies Drive.

“We were thrilled to receive donations of backpacks, pencils, index cards, lunch boxes, and other school supplies,” says Knights Inn owner and Williamsburg City Councilman Doug Pons. “We want each child to get the most out of school.”

Says Basecamp Productions owner Susan Branch Smith, “Children who do well in school do well later in life, and having the right tools is a big part of that. Everyone who donated has set the stage for local school children to succeed regardless of financial challenge.”

This year’s school supply drive was nicknamed “Fill the Room,” because the Knights Inn Williamsburg Busch Gardens Area (620 York Street) emptied a guest room to fill with school supplies. Sponsors of the drive were Knights Inn, Basecamp Productions, and Helen’s Place Photography.
